UK Export Finance (UKEF)

UKEF is the UK’s official export credit agency. It helps UK exporters by ‘underwriting’ bank loans offered to overseas buyers of UK products and services. Offers insurance to UK exporters against the risk of non-payment by overseas buyers. Helps exporters to: raise tender and contract bonds , access working capital finance, secure confirmations of letters of credit.

Scope/Activity

Export Insurance Policy – protection against bad debt

Bond Support and Export Working Capital Schemes help release working capital for exporters.

Letter of Credit Guarantee Scheme removes the overseas payment risk

Overseas Investment Insurance protects your overseas invest -ment against political risk. Bond Insurance Scheme provides insurance against unfair calling.

Supplier and Buyer Credit financing facilities – loans to overseas buyers to procure UK goods and services.

Advice will be given on export finance and risk mitigation

The Adviser will advise as to the suitability of the UKEF product for your business, or discuss commercial alternatives.

Eligibility

The main criteria is that you must have an export order. There are no specific restrictions on exporter size.

Criteria differ according to which UKEF product is required, for example:
