The North Lancs Expo is the gateway to North LancashireFollowing the huge success of the second North Lancs Expo, it looks like North Lancashire will have a gateway to show off the people, places and businesses that make it such a great work and play destination for many years to come. The North Lancashire Expo opened its doors on Sunday and Monday (23rd and 24th September) to thousands of visitors, bringing together the people and organisations of the region for a two-day spectacular showcase.

Organisers of the Expo, Lancaster & District Chamber of Commerce are extremely pleased to announce that the second North Lancs Expo, was an outstanding success for both exhibitors and visitors alike with over 100 exhibitors and a 15% increase in visitors from the inaugural Expo in 2017.

Alistair Eagles, CEO of Seatruck Ferries and President of the Lancaster & District Chamber of Commerce, stated:

“I would like to say a huge thank you to everyone that made the event possible. To our sponsors, to our volunteers, to the Chamber Team but primarily to the exhibitors. The effort and thoughts that they put into their stands was truly remarkable and it was amazing to hear the conversations going on and the connections being made. Ultimately the Chamber is here to support and facilitate local business, but it is you the people in those companies that actually makes the magic happen!

“Plans are already afoot for the 2019 Expo which will come back bigger and better so watch this space for more information. We would absolutely love to hear your feedback on the Expo so that we can improve the event going forward.”

Sunday was our family and community day where the focus was on skills, training and inspiring our future workforce. We had awe inspiring entertainment from Ludus Youth Dance company, the Bay Beat Street Band and Bernesto The Great. With a visit from Lancashire fire and Rescue’s 999 squad and the British Army plus kids of all ages enjoyed an interactive drama workshop hosted by Pyjama Drama.

Monday morning it was back to business with networking, connections and collaborations happening in every inch of the marquee. The day kicked off with a fascinating debate on the future of North Lancashire and boy does it look great. A series of ‘Tap’ Talks followed the panel discussion which were enjoyed. They covered topics such as ‘Lancaster’s District Ambitions’, ‘Data Driven Leadership’ and ‘Work smarter, not harder’. Day two also saw the Google Digital Garage team host two informative workshops on marketing and data.

Vicky Lofthouse, Chief Executive Officer of the Chamber, said: “The team and I are immensely proud to have delivered the Expo once again and I thank my colleagues for their unstinting work to make the Expo happen. But the Expo isn’t about the Chamber, it’s about the amazing businesses of North Lancashire, our media team, our sponsors and most importantly our visitors that attended over the two days whom we were able to show off how amazing North Lancashire is and the businesses within.

“I’d like to personally thank all involved. In particular our sponsors Lancaster City Council, Lancaster University, SilverDoor Apartments, Boost Business Lancashire, Inspired Energy, Lancaster & Morecambe College and EDF Energy. Plus, thanks also goes to our fabulous media team, Lancashire Business View, Workshop Media, Apparatus, Printing.com, Lancaster Guardian and Nick Dagger Photography. And finally, a big thank you to Chris and his team at Lancaster Brewery for hosting the Expo. We can’t wait to do it all again in 2019.”
